First of all, we’re proud to present support for the first Hegener + Glaser product: the “brikett” chess computers, Mephisto, Mephisto II and Mephisto III. As you can probably guess, there’s an addition from Nintendo’s Game & Watch line. This month it’s Mario’s Bombs Away. On a related note, we’ve also added Elektronika’s Kosmicheskiy Most, exported as Space Bridge, which is an unlicensed total conversion of the Game & Watch title Fire. If you haven’t played any of the handheld LCD games in MAME, you’re missing something special – they look superb with external scanned and traced artwork.
On the arcade side, we’ve added The Destroyer From Jail (a rare Philko game), and alternate regional versions of Block Out and Super Shanghai Dragon’s Eye. The CD for Simpsons Bowling has been re-dumped, resolving some long-standing issues. With its protection microcontroller dumped and emulated, Birdie Try is now fully playable. Protection microcontrollers for The Deep and Last Mission have also been dumped and emulated. Improvements to Seibu hardware emulation mean Banpresto’s SD Gundam Sangokushi Rainbow Tairiku Senki is now playable, and sprite priorities in Seibu Cup Soccer have been improved.
In computer emulation, two interesting DOS compatible machines based on the Intel 80186 CPU are now working: the Mindset Personal Computer, and the Dulmont Magnum. The Apple II software lists have been updated to include almost all known clean cracks and original flux dumps, and the Apple II gameport ComputerEyes frame grabber is now emulated. We’ve received a series of submissions that greatly improve emulation of the SWTPC S/09 and SS-30 bus cards. On the SGI front, the 4D/20 now has fully-working IRIX 4.0.5 via serial console, and a whole host of improvements have gone into the Indy “Newport” graphics board emulation. Finally, MAME now supports HDI, 2MG and raw hard disk image files.

My list of recommended Fallout 4 mods one month in

There are a ton of mods on Nexus now despite not having a Creation Kit to make them and several of them are impressive considering the lack of available resources.
The following is my list of recommended mods. You may find something you enjoy here.
Why did I do this? Yes, I am procrastinating on a project that's due Monday so that was motivation enough.
Sound
P.A.M.S - Power Armor Movement Sounds by ONIXer
Many different sound options, from light to hydraulic to heavy. I really think it's almost a bug fix since vanilla power armor sounds wimpy.

Aggressive synth voice overhaul by Ubercharge
Warning: This sort of works. Sort of. It makes synth voices really cool. But there are some issues with it. Nothing buggy but you'll see if you progress far enough in the main quest.

Overhaul of the vanilla weapon sounds. Adds some real punch to the firing sounds.

One of the most dire needed fixes. Being able to scrap legendary items in the crafting menu.

It might seem like there are too many fusion cores in the game already but if you wear power armor 100% of the time eventually you will run out. This allows you to immersively craft your own based on perks.

Hunting Rifle (Sniper) Damage Increase by Cupressi
Makes sniper weapons more deadly. It makes sense but technically it's a cheat since it's increasing damage by 35%. The vanilla values are pretty weak to be honest. Not killing somebody in one shot with a .50 cal hit is crazy.
Difficulty XP Scaling by Orgridel
It's not really a cheat if you use the option to punish yourself with the less experience module. However you can choose to increase your experience based on increased difficulty. Much like Diablo 3.
Carry Weight Modifications by The Iron Rose
The question you have to ask yourself here is this: what's more unrealistic? Stopping to manage your inventory space every 5 minutes because you're overburdened? Or using a cheat to remove that annoyance? Frankly, it's already unrealistic you can carry 12 different weapon types, all sorts of different armors, tons of junk like desk fans, and nothing shows up visually on your character. Perhaps someone will one day offer an immersive fix. Until then it's COLLECT ALL THE STUFF!

Yes, this can be seen as a cheat but it's also really cool. You can increase the rate of legendary enemies so that they show up practically every time an enemy spawns. This is a double-edged sword. Your game will be much, much harder. Legendary rad scorpions can and they will violate you. But the payoff is also better. You get a ton of good drops.

Fallout: New Vegas Revisited

In this retrospective article, PC Gamer looks back at Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas and proclaims it the most authentic 3D Fallout game. It's honestly hard to disagree with this assessment, since for my money, New Vegas is the only 3D Fallout game that actually feels like Fallout at all. And as for PC Gamer, they praise New Vegas' faction and quest design, companions, and writing. An excerpt:
But the Mojave has a very different feel when you wander out to the edges of the map, feeling more like an old western—an atmosphere enhanced by the catchy cowboy ballads that play on your Pip-Boy’s radio. "I took a motorcycle trip through the desert and went all around the outskirts of Las Vegas," says project director Josh Sawyer in the same making of film. "Travelling by motorcycle, you get a lot more opportunities to see the world around you. And it gave me a really strong feeling of what it’s like being out there in the desert, which I then tried to bring into the game."
A slick, smooth-talking New Vegas gangster called Benny, played brilliantly by Matthew 'Chandler Bing' Perry, left you for dead at the start of the game, and chasing him is, at least to begin with, the focus of the story. Benny’s appearance, specifically his garish black-and-white plaid suit, is based on real-world Vegas gangster Bugsy Siegel—one of many historical figures Obsidian looked to for inspiration when creating the game’s characters. But in the big picture, Benny is small time compared to some of the other antagonists you’ll encounter in the Mojave.
There’s the enigmatic Mr House, inspired by infamous Vegas businessman Howard Hughes. He’s a pragmatist, and even a force for good in the wasteland in some ways. But you don’t get that powerful without a certain level of ruthlessness. Then there’s Caesar’s Legion, a tribal army planning to assault and capture the New Vegas Strip and nearby Hoover Dam, whose preferred method of dealing with enemies is crucifying them. And there are other, smaller groups, too, including the Powder Gangers, the Boomers and the Jackals. You’re never short of enemies in New Vegas.
One of New Vegas’ best tricks is sidelining the binary karma system for reputation. Karma is still there, but it has much less bearing on the game. How the factions perceive you is a lot more important, and it’s worth making a few friends. Get cosy with the Brotherhood of Steel and they’ll give you access to their safehouse and occasionally fill a crate with energy weapons and ammo. But anger them and Veronica—one of the better companions—will refuse to join you. Pal up with the New California Republic and you’ll get a radio that lets you call for backup and supply drops. Upset them and they’ll send a hit squad in your direction.
But the game’s greatest strength, and the reason many consider it the best of the 3D Fallout games, is the writing. Obsidian has a solid background in storytelling, and it shows in New Vegas. Quests are more interesting, with a moral greyness that Fallout 3 sorely lacked. In a GDC talk about designing its branching narrative, Sawyer said he wanted to avoid 'Jesus/Hitler' moments: those blunt choices where one option is selfless and noble, and the other is comically evil. "The agony of a choice should fall somewhere between these two spectrums," he says in the talk. "A player should feel like there’s something good and bad about what they pick."
New Vegas doesn’t have the moral ambiguity of some of Obsidian’s other games, particularly the magnificent Pillars of Eternity, but it’s one of the things that sets this Fallout apart from the Bethesda entries in the series. Arguably, though, the Mojave isn’t as evocative a setting as the Capital Wasteland. Civilisation's post-nuclear collapse is felt more vividly in Washington DC. It has a bleakness that you never really get a sense of in the Mojave. That was almost certainly Obsidian's intention, to show us another side of the Fallout setting, but there’s something more compelling about the hopelessness of the Capital Wasteland on that level.
